Leonia Borough Historian Carol Karels Lutchen wrote two books on Leonia, both collections of stories written for "The Leonia Line," her weekly article in the Bergen News from 1992 until 1997. Her first book, "The Leonia Line" was published in 1994 and is now out of print. Stories from that book are now available on line for students and residents, to "establish a sense of place" about the wonderful little community we live in.

The Leonia Public Library raised over $75,000 during their Diamond Jubilee 75th Anniversary year to make needed improvements to its collection, facility and to create a room to store the local history collection. The Library's Summer Reading Challenge alone, co-sponsored by the Leonia Public Schools, raised $2,755.54 in pledges that will be used to maintain and update the children's services at the Library. 180 children, from preschool to eighth grade, competed for gold, silver and bronze medals by reading books over the summer.
