Tenafly

Elevation: 40 feet above sea level (at borough hall) Area: 4.61 square miles; total land area: 2,843 acres Population (as of the 2000 census): 13,480; density: 2,890 persons per square mile.

Tenafly is ruled by a municipal government, consisting of an elected Mayor (unpaid) and six elected councilpersons (unpaid.). A Borough Manager (paid) handles the day-to-day work of the town. The Mayor appoints Tenafly citizens to serve without pay on boards, commissions and advisory committees.

The Tenafly Police Department is an organized force of highly trained, paid professionals.

Both the Fire Department and the Ambulance Corps are comprised of volunteers from town who give their time to serve the community.

You will also find Tenafly mentioned occasionally on the stage and screen. A main character in Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite" lives in the town, and the original house in "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" can be found on Coppell Drive.
